- ↑ In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, there are several references to Shadow's cryo-stasis being exactly "50 years," with this being solidified when Shadow says, "2024? I've been trapped for 50 years?!" on August 20, 2024 (see 2024 references), confirming that the raid of Gerald's lab concretely occurred in 1974. A weighted calculation, with greater weight on the more specific, places the raid and Shadow being forced into cryostasis happening on August 10, 1974.
In the film, there are flashbacks that depicts Shadow and Maria's friendship sometime before this event, with them meeting, Maria teaching him how to have fun, and the movie night and stargazing scenes. When Maria and Shadow are stargazing, there are several oxeye daisies seen on the field they are sitting on, which implies that this should take place sometime within the blooming period of June to September. In the present day, when Sonic and Eggman investigates Maria's room, there is a bowl of popcorn at the same place where it was last left during the movie night scene. This suggests that both the movie night and the stargazing scenes happen a relatively short time before the raid occurs on August 10th, and is also supported by the same set of pajamas Maria wears in both scenes (suggesting that it should be below the recommended three to four wears before washing them). This ideally places the aforementioned scenes on the night before the raid, so on August 9, 1974.
In the first flashback shortly before she meets Shadow, Maria is seen holding a box of her belongings and later moves into her room. Since she appears to be old enough to already have been attending school, along with the oxeye daisies suggesting a summer setting, this would imply that Maria is already out of school for the summer, and when paired up with evidence of the facility's location being somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, this would be set in the west coast of the United States, where the 1973-74 school year ended on June 13th. Overall, it can be inferred that the first two flashbacks can be placed between June 13th and August 9th, placing Maria meeting Shadow on July 2nd, and Maria and Shadow having fun on July 22nd. - ↑ Knuckles: 1.01: The Warrior
