Before leaving Gerald Robotnik's laboratory with Team Robotnik, Shadow the Hedgehog deployed a small orb, powered by his Chaos Energy, to release a mini black hole to destroy the facility and trap Team Sonic. As the black hole began consuming the area, the trio risked being pulled in, but Knuckles the Echidna managed to bite a rope to secure his friends while Sonic the Hedgehog kicked one of Tails' rings to open a portal and escape. The team celebrated their escape, only to watch in awe as the black hole consumed a large part of the island, prompting Sonic to joke that someone should call Google Maps.
