Kyle Lancebottom was assigned to monitor Shadow the Hedgehog on Prison Island, Tokyo, where he lay in a deep sleep in his cryo-pod, while a team of G.U.N. soldiers guarded the prison. In 2024, he continued monitoring Shadow, a soldier arrived with donuts, only for Kyle to mention he had eaten all the Boston cream ones, much to the soldier's frustration. The soldier then expressed his fear of the place, but Lancebottom reassured him, commenting that Shadow hadn't shown any signs of waking up in fifty years.

However, Lancebottom quickly noticed Shadow's vital signs, which worried him when he saw that someone was hacking into the prison's systems. He warned that Shadow was waking up, alerting all the G.U.N. soldiers to stop him. Despite their efforts, Shadow broke free from his cryo-pod and easily defeated them all. After Shadow left the island heading to Tokyo, Lancebottom expressed the need for more soldiers, but his partner revealed that the only ones they had left were the ones Shadow had already defeated.[2]
