History[]
Shadow breaks out of his containment tank
Shadow the Hedgehog was given Limiter Rings to inhibit his powers in the early 1970s. In suspended animation for the next 50 years, Shadow broke free from containment and managed to repeatedly defeat Team Sonic with a fraction of his power.
Shadow retrieves a Limiter Ring
Later in his super form, in an attempt to stop the near-exploding Eclipse Cannon from pulverizing the Earth, Super Shadow removed his rings to push the giant cannon away from the planet. The cannon's explosion sent Shadow towards Earth, where he picked up one of his Limiter Rings from a crater.[1]

The Limiter Rings limit the user's powers when put on. The seams of the rings glow a bright yellow when the user undergoes a super transformation. The rings can be taken off so that the user may use their power to the fullest.
