Quest to Reno[]
Bowling Tournament of Champions[]

- "We are here in sunny Reno, Nevada, which is so close to Hell, you can smell the sparks. And you know what? Today we have a bunch of amazing competitors getting ready to collide in a game of champions. That's right, it's poor man's baseball bowling."
- ―Gary Sinclair[src]
In the next few years of the bowling tournament, Pistol Pete Whipple made a name for himself in Reno as a famous, undefeated bowling champion, living in a suite at the National Bowling Stadium.[2] In 2024, because he wanted to see his father again, Wade Whipple started bowling to go to Reno[3], but after being kicked out the Renegades by Jack Sinclair to participate, Knuckles the Echidna, guided by Pachacamac, recruited Whipple to initiate a quest to Reno and train him as his disciple.[4] After several challenges in their quest, Whipple and Knuckles arrived in Reno on their motorbike, amazed Knuckles by the beauty of the city as they looked at the stadium.

The Warriors and Pistol Pete reach the tournament finals
Inside the stadium, Wanda and Wendy Whipple joined forces to have fun in the stadium, while Knuckles helped Whipple reunite with his Pistol Pete, who was happy to see his son and learned that he was participating in the tournament. ESPN8 The Ocho commentators, Dylan Beagleton and Gary Sinclair hosted the Reno tournament, with all thirty-two teams competing. While the tournament was going on, the duo of Pistol Pete and the Warriors, the team of Whipple and Susie Barnes, managed to reach the tournament finals the next day.

Whipple and Pistol Pete make amends
Later, Pistol Pete ran into agents Willoughby and Mason, with whom he formed an alliance to capture Knuckles, in exchange for making Whipple leave the tournament. At the stadium bar, Whipple and Pistol Pete began to bond again, discovering that the reason for his father's abandonment was out of fear, putting his fame first, but Whipple forgave him when he saw that he had put away his WadeJammerz, being invited for him to his suite. Wendy attempted to warn Whipple about how Pistol Pete was actually a bad father for no reason to abandon them, although Whipple decided to go create a new relationship with his father, assuring his mother that everything would be fine. However, Wendy and Wanda were eventually kidnapped by agents inside the stadium.[2]
Rescue of Wendy and Wanda Whipple[]

Whipple sees his mother and sister kidnapped by Willoughby and Mason in the suite
- "Look, Wade. Here's the deal. There's only one Whipple that matters in the greater Reno area and I'm afraid it's not you, dear boy. So I suggest you withdraw from the tournament, give these folks your big, furry, red friend, or I'm afraid I-I won't be able to stop them doing some rather nasty things to people you care about."
- ―Pistol Pete Whipple to Wade Whipple[src]
In Pistol Pete's suite, Whipple praises his father's luxurious life, but soon realized that Wendy and Wanda had been kidnapped by Willoughby and Mason, who revealed that Pistol Pete volunteered to help them. Disappointed, Whipple confronted his father for betraying him again, but Pistol Pete confessed that he did it because he did not want his son to steal his position as champion of the tournament in Reno, threatening that the agents would kill his family if he did not hand over Knuckles to them. Whipple refused the threat when Willoughby threatened his sister, but when he saw that his mother was going to be killed, he accepted the threat.[2]

Willoughby and Mason are absorbed by the rings
Unbeknownst to the agents, Knuckles overheard the conversation through an earpiece and along with Whipple, planned a rescue mission.[1] While Whipple acted to show that he betrayed him, Knuckles boarded the elevator[2], where Willoughby was sadistically shot several times, but the agents discovered it was a disguise and Knuckles revealed himself to them, confronting them for kidnapping his friends. During the fight between Knuckles and the agents, Whipple took the opportunity to go up the stairs and free his mother and sister with a master key that Tom Wachowski gave him, but Wanda refused because she was trying to escape on her own. When Willoughby fired two rings with her gun, Knuckles caused the two to collide, making two giant portals that absorbed the agents. After the rescue, Whipple left the suite to confront his father and defeat him in the tournament.[1]
The Finals[]

Whipple wins the bowling tournament
- "We are here at the final round of the Bowling Tournament of Champions in beautiful Reno, Nevada, or as I like to call it, "Las Vegas for losers.""
- ―Gary Sinclair[src]
At the start of the bowling tournament finals, Pistol Pete was on the verge of claiming the trophy until Whipple appeared to challenge him in the finals, regrouping with Barnes to win, while Wendy, Wanda, and Barnes' parents supported the Warriors. During the tournament, Pistol Pete failed to knock down a pin, allowing Whipple to prove his worth to the residents of Reno. In a final shot, Whipple was able to knock down all the pins, achieving victory and wowing everyone in the competition, winning the title as the new Reno champion.[1]
Attack on Knuckles the Echidna[]

Knuckles heard a commotion on the streets of Reno, where he was unexpectedly attacked by The Buyer in his mech, powered by Knuckles' quills and swings the echidna around the stadium. In aid of his friend, Whipple donned Mason's gauntlets to confront The Buyer after he absorbed all of Knuckles' Chaos Energy. In aid of his friend, Whipple donned Mason's gauntlets to confront The Buyer after he absorbed all of Knuckles' Chaos Energy. Whipple gave an inspiring speech to wake up Knuckles, who was able to wake up in time to save Whipple and regain his powers from the mech, unleashing the Flames of Disaster to destroy the mech. After Whipple made a giant ball fall from a building, Knuckles held it up to crush The Buyer.

After the battle and the tournament, Sinclair and Beagleton saw Pistol Pete desperately try to steal the trophy, but then Wendy and Wanda stopped him by entering through the hole in the stadium. Whipple claimed the trophy as the rightful champion, with Knuckles congratulating Whipple for winning and sharing the victory, the two best friends jumped up to high-five each other upon completing their quest to Reno.[1]
