- "Whoa. This is where you grew up, Shadow? No wonder you're so mad. This place could really use a bean bag chair and some comic books."
- ―Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
Shadow's Cryo-Pod was a cryostasis pod that kept Shadow frozen for fifty years.
History[]
Project Shadow[]

Shadow meets Maria Robotnik
In the 1970s, a secret government project called "Project Shadow" was carried out after a meteorite containing Shadow the Hedgehog crashed in Oklahoma to study the ultimate lifeform under the supervision of Gerald Robotnik. The meteorite was lowered inside a cryostasis tube, where Shadow would sleep and eventually meet Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. When they met, Maria drew a face of a rabbit on the pod as to mock Shadow's stern expression, afterwards placing a hand on it while Shadow did the same.

Shadow is placed in cryostasis on Prison Island
She was accidentally killed by G.U.N. soldiers, leading to Gerald's imprisonment, and Shadow being locked in another highly guarded cryo-pod in a secret research facility.[1]
Shadow's Awakening[]
Shadow meets his old pod
For the next fifty years, Shadow was in a state of cryostasis inside a new pod at Prison Island. However, the systems keeping Shadow dormant were hijacked, allowing Shadow to break free. Shadow managed to breach the prison and escaped, later returning to the laboratory where Project Shadow was held and looking upon his broken and abandoned pod. He placed his hand on it as he did with Maria Robotnik decades ago.[1]
Trivia[]
- In the video game series, Shadow the Hedgehog was locked in a pod by Maria Robotnik moments before her death during the attack on the Space Colony ARK. The pod was deployed to Earth and was hidden on Prison Island until Doctor Eggman's raid of the prison, waking the hedgehog up as to fulfill his evil plans.
