"Everyone calls me 'Tails,' you're probably wondering why." "Let me guess: because of the extra tail?" "That's right! I should've known you'd get that!"
Miles "Tails" Prower is an intelligent amber-colored Fox cub abnormally born with two tails, which he can spin like helicopter rotors to achieve flight. On his home planet, Tails lived in a village where his genetic mutation was often ridiculed. Developing a sense of insecurity, Tails fortunately found familiarity in Sonic the Hedgehog, who caused an energy surge on Earth. Driven by a newfound idolization, Tails used one of his many inventions to find Sonic and arrived on the planet with a ring portal.
Upon realizing someone was in pursuit of Sonic, Tails rescued him from Knuckles the Echidna and explained to him Knuckles' quest for the legendary and powerful Master Emerald. Tails joined Sonic in finding and securing the emerald, eventually confronting Knuckles and Doctor Eggman, the latter betraying Knuckles to seize the emerald. Now allied with Knuckles, Tails flew him and Sonic to Green Hills with the Tornado biplane to stop Eggman's Giant Eggman Robot, powered by the emerald. Following Sonic's plan, Tails distracted Eggman to weaken him. Despite the robot briefly overpowering them, Tails witnessed Super Sonic destroy it. Afterwards, Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic formed Team Sonic, vowing to protect the emerald.
Tails and his friends would later go to a junkyard to investigate strange noises a Flying Egg named Unit had been making, so the team had to face it. However, Tails and Sonic learned about Unit's passion for poems, Tails convincing Sonic to stay with the friendly Badnik. Tails later tried to help Sonic and Maddie get Knuckles adjusted to his new life on Earth, although the Echidna ended up being grounded by modifying the Wachowski Residence.
Eventually, Tails and his friends were recruited by G.U.N. to confront Shadow the Hedgehog in Tokyo, but were defeated. They formed an unlikely alliance with Eggman, who managed to survive his defeat. He later betrayed them to help his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, and Shadow use the Eclipse Cannon to destroy the Earth. To save the planet, Tails and Knuckles headed to the Space Colony ARK, where they partnered with a reformed Eggman to defeat Gerald and tried to deactivate the cannon, which was stopped by Sonic and Shadow. After saving the planet, Tails and his friends continued their adventures protecting the world.
Miles Prower was born on a distant planet and resided in a judgmental village, of which its villagers ridiculed Prower's genetic extra tail, hence his nickname "Tails." His abnormality prevented him from making friends with anyone, and as the villagers grew more estranged upon Tails' tails, Tails developed a sense of insecurity.[1]
When Sonic the Hedgehog created an abnormally large chaos energy blast,[2] Tails' computer showed him footage of it. Since then, Tails watched the battle between Sonic and Doctor Ivo Robotnik and later their subsequent adventures. Enlightened that he was not the weirdest person in the galaxy, Tails created the Miles Electric in order to find Sonic.[1]
Tails arrived on Sonic's Island in an attempt to find Sonic the Hedgehog, revisiting the now sacred home of the late Longclaw for a clue. Upon scanning a drawing made by Sonic, he was able to construct a rough pattern of places Sonic could've gone to.
Through ring portals, he arrived at the Marble Zone, where he accidentally trespassed Rava the Destroyer's domain. He also noted someone was following him, so he traveled faster, passing through Spring Yard, Aquatic Ruins, and Hill Top. He then stopped and noticed two chaos energy spikes stemming from a Mushroom Planet and a "backwater planet" named Earth. Tails quickly escaped through a ring.[3] Tails arrived on Earth after tracking Sonic to the planet, hoping that he is not too late to warn him of the people in pursuit of him.[2][1]
By the evening, Tails remarked he should not be seen and used standard human transport as a sort of disguise. Upon arriving at Sonic the Hedgehog's location, he hit the threat, Knuckles the Echidna, with the Green Hills Sheriff's Department vehicle to save Sonic and took down the vengeful Robotnik, who was now referred to as Eggman. He thus drove him away from Knuckles while partially explaining to Sonic what was currently happening. Once Knuckles found himself on top of the car, Tails had the idea to drive it off a cliff, propelling Sonic upwards with his twin tails. The two eventually settled in the "Wade Cave," Wade Whipple's garage.[1]
"Don't worry, I got your back. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you... It's a power bump. On Earth, it means an unbreakable promise." "...Okay, I'm in!"
In Wade Whipple's garage, Tails and Sonic took shelter from the forces of Eggman and sought to find out the connection between Knuckles' search for the Master Emerald and Longclaw. Sonic noted that there was a new emerald on the Safe Worlds Map he was unfamiliar with. As he explained this, Tails, Sonic, and Wade witnessed Longclaw's prerecorded holographic message emitting from the map. Longclaw revealed that the emerald was hidden on Earth, in Siberia, and that she left the duty of guarding said emerald to Sonic. Sonic opened a ring to Siberia with the intention of Tails coming along, although Tails was a little weary of going on such adventures. Sonic promised to protect him, sealing his promise with a fist bump.[1]
Tails and Sonic the Hedgehog unfortunately found themselves caught in a heavy snowstorm, with Tails unable to locate anything. Suggesting the possibility of turning back, Sonic assured him they could go inside a nearby restaurant. They put on disguises as they entered the restaurant, where they noted various potential dangers and evil senses. Despite this, the two sat at a table and ordered beef stew, as translated by Tails' Miles Electric. Impressed, Sonic questioned where he got such gadgets, and Tails replied that he made them himself, labeling it as "his thing." He also told him he found Sonic through his inventions and mentioned that he couldn't let Sonic suffer the danger Knuckles brought.
Once a different meal was brought to Tails, he requested a reorder with his translator. But the translation offended the waitress, eventually resulting in the entire bar growing suspicious of the two. They took off their disguises and were met with perplexed stares from the patrons, who then planned to throw them into the fire. Tails, hesitant but determined, searched for Siberian customs and yelled "Pivonka," invoking total silence. The patrons revealed a dance battle champion who challenged them, and Tails and Sonic learned "Pivonka" was an activity used to resolve disputes, needing to win in order to escape death.
As the dance battle ensued, Sonic and Tails were disbanding from the Safe Worlds Map and unable to perform traditional dances. This led Sonic to alter the music to a song that was easy to dance to. Winning the dance battle, Tails and Sonic received praise from everyone and also retrieved the map. Later that night, Tails recalled how amazing the recent events were, with Sonic telling him to stick around so he could learn more about Earth. Tails, hearing the mention of the word "pal," was delighted, as his rough childhood involved having no friends. After explaining how Sonic inspired him, Tails slept on the floor, covering Sonic with his twin tails.[1]
The following day, Tails and Sonic set out to the mountains of Siberia using Tails' flight abilities, eventually entering a cave. Inside, they learned of the tale of the War for the Master Emerald, translated by Tails' Miles Electric. After Sonic turned tiles on an Owl statue, the two received the Master Emerald Compass. When Eggman and Knuckles arrived and fired a missile, Sonic threw it back, disbalancing the statue to create an exit outside the cave. Sonic ordered Tails to fly high while he snowboarded, with Tails constantly followed by Eggman and his violent Badniks as he tried to help Sonic.
During Sonic's confrontation with Knuckles, Tails assumed Sonic was in trouble and prevented Knuckles from injuring him further by using a mechanical rope. Tails was told to reach for the compass, but Robotnik caught it instead, exploding missiles near Tails, causing him to black out. An avalanche then stormed down upon Sonic and his unconscious friend, leaving Sonic to drag Tails along to the safe island of Hawaii with the help of Tom.[1]
Blasting through the now interrupted supposed wedding of Rachel and Randall Handel, Tails and Sonic were held prisoner by the federal anti-alien force; G.U.N..
Tails later awakened from his blackout as soon as Sonic left to fight Knuckles and Eggman, warning his saviors, theWachowskis, to stop them, accusing them of not knowing the potential danger that lay ahead of him.[1]
Having returned for Sonic with the Tornado, a plane he found on Hawaii, he brought him and the newly reformed Knuckles to Green Hills, a town facing the threat of Eggman's Giant Eggman Robot, now that the mad doctor had obtained the Master Emerald's excellent power. With the biplane, Tails avoided incoming missiles fired by the enemy, although Sonic was hit by one. He fired bullets at the mech, but they were ineffective. The plane's wings got destroyed by the robot's 'Stache Smasher move, allowing it to crash as Tails flew away.
The three grouped together, deciding to coordinate their attacks and plans through efficient teamwork. Suggesting a true plan, Tails proposed the idea of discovering Eggman's weak spot while everyone battled Badniks, triggering Sonic's idea of centering Robotnik's attention on him, the weak spot, as Tails and Knuckles rid Eggman of his might. Following the plan, Tails flew Knuckles and himself inside the robot. Tails duplicated himself via holograms, distracting Eggman so Knuckles could extract the Master Emerald with one extreme punch. As the robot tumbled, so did Tails and Knuckles, along with the emerald.
Although a distressed Tails and a shocked Knuckles stared upon a seemingly crushed Sonic, Tom and Maddie, Super Sonic, destroyed the mechanism and sent Eggman off to his demise. As Sonic returned to normal, Tails questioned the reason why Sonic gave up universe-reigning levels of power, and he was answered that Sonic needed to grow up more and that he liked being a kid. With Knuckles reforming the Chaos Emeralds into its usual state, he pondered what to do with it. They all agreed to guard it, like the former warriors and orders. Tails and the others sealed their promise with a friendly power bump.[1]
The new order of heroes and theWachowskis later played baseball at the Green Hills Baseball Field, with Tails on the mound. He threw his confident fastball, which was hit by Knuckles' power bump. Even though he claimed the batter's performance to be unfair, Knuckles proceeded to conquer all the bases. Maddie treated the three to ice cream, which invoked enthusiasm in all of them. Picked up by Knuckles, he, Tails, and Sonic entered Tom's truck, off to taste ice cream.[1]
One day, Tails and Knuckles followed Sonic, expecting to go to the library, but Sonic actually led them to the Green Hills Junkyard. After Whipple reported strange noises coming from this very scrapyard, the team spotted a Badnik collecting parts for an upgrade. Sonic suggested a plan where Tails took up a flanking position, but Knuckles immediately attacked the drone and was ultimately defeated. Sonic took Tails by his hand and ran around the junkyard as Unit spotted the group. As Sonic was blinded by smoke from Unit's parts, Tails launched a bolas that wrapped around Sonic's legs. Though Tails tried to fly Sonic away, they both got slammed onto the ground by Unit. Tails told Sonic to talk to it, which led to the robot's vulnerability, reading poets to the two until sunset. Knuckles returned to attack Unit, but was saved by Tails. Begging to keep it, Sonic agreed, and left with Tails to get chilidogs.[4]
A few months later, after moving into the Wachowski Residence with Sonic and Knuckles, Tails and Sonic arrived outside to see yet another construction crew ambushed by Knuckles. Concerned about Knuckles' behavior and mannerisms, Tails pondered if the hole in the living room is ever going to get fixed, noting that the room is getting cold at night. When approached by Maddie Wachowski, Sonic volunteered to have a talk with Knuckles and notice him on the roof, where he is trying to train Ozzie. Once getting on to the roof with Sonic, Tails beckoned the dog to follow him back downstairs as Sonic has his talk with Knuckles.
The next morning, Tails and Sonic are met by Knuckles seated on a throne made from scraps when coming to take their breakfast. Knuckles stated the throne designates his role as "family champion," only to be claimed by one who defeats him in trial by combat. Tails, confused, asked what this actually meant, to which Knuckles invited them to see the living room, which has now been turned into a gladiator pit. Knuckles was then grounded for his actions, though he did not know what that meant. Sonic and Maddie clarified it, with Tails stating that he cannot leave his room to embark on quests. After Knuckles left to the attic, Maddie noted that she's going to be late for work, to which Tails added that parts of their car had been used in favor of building the throne.[5]
After Knuckles completed his quest and returned to Green Hills,[6] Tails and his friends decided to have a movie night in the living room, choosing to watch Casper. As the film played, Knuckles quickly grew terrified at the sight of Casper the Friendly Ghost. Overcome with fear, he gripped his friends' hands tightly, causing them pain as they struggled to break free. By the end of the movie, the Echidna had developed a newfound fear of ghosts.[7]

Sometime later, Tails, his friends, and the Wachowskis went camping in the woods of Green Hills, where they secretly planned a surprise party for Sonic to celebrate the anniversary of his arrival on Earth. To keep Sonic distracted, Tails and Knuckles staged a race to determine who was the fastest member of the family, with Sonic initially believing they were going tubing. As the race began, Tails activated two hologram devices, making Sonic believe he was racing against both him and Knuckles while they quietly prepared for the surprise celebration.
As Sonic crossed the finish line, Tails, Knuckles, and the Wachowskis quickly took care of all the final preparations for the party. Noticing the holograms, Sonic rushed back to camp, only to be surprised by the celebration, which Maddie had named his "Bearthday." Tails explained that the party was to thank Sonic for everything he had done, as his arrival had changed everyone's lives for the better. Touched by the gesture, Sonic smiled and happily agreed to celebrate, surrounded by his friends and family.[7]
At night, Tails, his friends, and the Wachowskis picked out marshmallows, Knuckles having burned his. Tails iterated that heating marshmallows was a matter of time and temperature. Suddenly, a G.U.N. helicopter arrived in the forest, carrying Director Rockwell, who informed them that Commander Walters had requested Team Sonic's assistance in neutralizing a threat in Tokyo, Japan. Without thinking twice, the team firmly agreed to participate in the mission and left in the helicopter, saying goodbye to the Wachowskis and Ozzie.
Using a ring portal, the team transported the helicopter to Tokyo, with Tails and a pilot at the controls. In search of clues about the threat, Tails and Sonic decided to head toward a massive explosion. Tails handed Sonic the Titanium Handcuffs to capture the rogue alien, though Knuckles hesitated to use them. After Sonic made a joke about the flight to Rockwell, the team jumped out of the plane and landed in Shibuya Crossing, where Tails measures high chaos energy readings. He and Sonic were saved by Knuckles, who lifted a G.U.N. vehicle, thrown by the cause of the explosion: a black Hedgehog who bore a striking resemblance to Sonic.
The black Hedgehog threatened the team, but Sonic attempted to reason with him, equipping Tails' handcuffs. Knuckles spontaneously decided to engage the black Hedgehog in a fight, only to be easily defeated, leaving Tails and Sonic worried as they helped him up. The team regrouped to face the black Hedgehog, but he managed to overpower all three of them and escape on his Dark Rider, with Sonic giving chase despite Tails' warnings. After a sudden blackout caused by the clash between the Hedgehogs, Tails and Knuckles arrived atop the Tokyo Skytree, where they freed Sonic from the handcuffs the black Hedgehog had placed on him. Tails reminded Sonic that they were a team and needed to stick together. With lingering doubts about their new rival, Sonic decided to seek answers from G.U.N., prompting Tails to suggest a suitable place for the meeting.[7]
"This is the Chao Garden. One of the top ten must see spots in all of Tokyo. It's a perfect place for us to blend in." "Are you Detective Pikachu?" "Yes, he is." "Ha ha! He does look like a Pokémon. Pika Pika."
Tails, Sonic and Knuckles took refuge in the Chao Garden, a popular children's restaurant in Tokyo, which Tails admired while being photographed by some civilians. While they were resting, a girl asked Tails if he is Detective Pikachu, prompting teases from Sonic and Knuckles. Shortly after, Walters reunited with Team Sonic, relieved that they were okay, and was interrogated by Sonic about the black Hedgehog. Walters explained that the Hedgehog, named Shadow the Hedgehog, had a similar background to Sonic, but while Sonic found friends and family, Shadow endured only loss and pain before being placed in cryostasis. Sonic deduces that someone must have awakened Shadow.
Suddenly, the lights went out, alarming the team and Walters until they realized it was a live show, to Tails' delight. However, Sonic spotted a swarm of Flying Eggs. Tails and Knuckles quickly jumped to avoid incoming missiles, causing them to doubt who was controlling them since Doctor Eggman had presumably died. As the dust settled, the team saw a mysterious motorcyclist appear, who used advanced gauntlets to disable the drones. Tails and the team surrounded an injured Walters, who entrusted Sonic with an Eclipse Cannonkeycard, a vital piece to one of G.U.N.'s most powerful weapons. When Rockwell and her platoon arrived, Team Sonic fled the destroyed restaurant. Despite their escape, she accused the trio of being responsible for the attack.[7]
"Sonic, I hate to say this, but I think we're both after the same person." "Hold on, hold on. You're not suggesting we team up with Doctor Robuttstink, are you?"
After escaping the watchful eyes of G.U.N., Team Sonic decided not to trust anyone in the organization, as Walters had warned them. Instead, they chose to pursue the mysterious motorcyclist, tracking him to the Tokyo Bay. There, they discovered that the motorcyclist is Agent Stone, who was quickly recognized by Knuckles as Eggman's assistant. The team initially blamed Stone for the attack, but he revealed that Eggman had survived their previous defeat and was not involved. Stone then deployed the Mecha Crab from the bay, inviting the team to follow him.
Inside the Badnik, Tails and his friends watched in both disgust and surprise as Eggman appeared before them. The once imposing villain had noticeably gained weight, and his hair had grown out, a far cry from his usual appearance. As Eggman processed the situation, he discovered that an imposter had hijacked his Flying Eggs. Furious, he located the culprit and swore revenge. With no other clear options, Tails suggested that Sonic team up with Eggman, a proposal that was supported by Knuckles. They realized that the only way to locate Shadow was to join forces, however reluctantly. After some hesitation, Sonic offered his enemy an alliance, which Eggman accepted after taking a quill from Sonic.[7]
"So, what's it like being Sonic's assistant? Daily routine? Paid time off? Benefits?" "Oh, I'm not Sonic's assistant. We're teammates! He's the leader, Knuckles is the muscle, and I'm the gadget guy. We all have a role to play. That's what makes the team so special. That and the fact we're best friends." "You are?" "Yeah, just like you and Eggman, right?"
Through a ring portal, Team Sonic, Eggman, and Stone arrived at an abandoned military facility once owned by G.U.N. As Eggman tried to open the door, Knuckles effortlessly knocked it down with a single blow, clearing the way for the team to enter. Inside, they were greeted by the rubble and remnants of the decayed facility. Tails saw that Knuckles had fought his fear against the ghosts after watching Casper. Upon encountering three different doors, Sonic suggested splitting up into groups.
He assigned Tails and Stone to the left hallway, where the agent casually remarked that he found Tails adorable, a compliment Tails appreciated with a friendly smile. When Stone asked what it was like to be Sonic's assistant, Tails firmly denied the label, explaining that he, Sonic, and Knuckles were teammates and best friends. He even compared their bond to the "friendship" between Eggman and Stone, though Stone hesitated, unsure if his boss truly considered him a friend. Suddenly, both turned to see Shadow standing behind them. They screamed in horror, but before they could react, Shadow swiftly knocked them out and captured them.[7]
While the black hole continued to absorb, Tails was able to give a ring to Sonic, which he kicked while Knuckles held onto a wire to avoid the black hole. The ring opened at the last minute and led them to a nearby cliff. Team Sonic subsequently teleported to the Wachowski Residence, where they asked for Tom and Maddie Wachowski's aid in infiltrating into G.U.N. Headquarters. The couple agreed, eager for some action. Tails outlined the plan, explaining that the Wachowskis would infiltrate the headquarters to deactivate the forcefield, enabling Sonic to proceed. He cautioned them about the dangers of the forcefield and the laser hallway, adding that they had no information about what the vault might contain.[7]
"Alright. Everyone knows what to do. Tom and Maddie, you guys plant the USB drive. I'll disable the traps, Sonic will snag the launch key and Knuckles, you stand by to..." "Break glass in case of emergency."
Following the plan, Team Sonic and the Wachowskis headed to London, where everyone took their positions. Tails handed Tom and Maddie a pair of holographic devices to disguise themselves as Rachel and Randall Handel. He also gave them a USB drive to deploy in the G.U.N. Headquarters server room, allowing him to hack the forcefield from his laptop and grant Sonic access. When Tom informed him that they weren't allowed to enter, Tails explained that G.U.N. agents had tightened security after Shadow's escape. Acting as Rachel, Maddie threatened the agent to get them through. After Maddie inserted the USB, Tails couldn't recognize it. Tom removed the USB and blew on it, Tails reacting surprised when it worked upon reinsertion.
However, the Wachowskis noticed another USB with a mustache logo imprinted on it, which alarmed Tails. He quickly identified heat signatures from Team Robotnik inside the headquarters and detected another transmission, pinpointing the Mecha Crab's location. In response, he hijacked the plumbing system in an attempt to flood the area and trap Shadow and Stone. With Eggman and Gerald nearby, Sonic decided to dash toward the headquarters as the forcefield began to close. Just as he was about to fail, Tails flew in and managed to toss him inside before it sealed shut. However, Tails and the Wachowskis were captured by Rockwell and her platoon. Knuckles broke into the vault to save them, triggering a gravity trap that pinned the trio. Sonic, transforming into ball form, deactivated the system before destroying a falling boulder.
When Rockwell took the last keycard, Tom, disguised as Walters, managed to snatch it back, only to be severely struck by Shadow, who mistook him for the real Walters. This left the team and Maddie deeply worried as they watched the Space Colony ARK being deployed by Team Robotnik. After Tom was hospitalized, Tails and Knuckles tried to console Sonic, who developed a thirst for revenge against Shadow. Ignoring Tails' reasons to stick together, Sonic threatened Knuckles to reveal the Master Emerald's location. Ultimately, Knuckles admitted that Wade Whipple was its guardian. Sonic easily obtained it from Whipple and activated his super transformation.[7]
While Super Sonic and Super Shadow made amends to stop the Eclipse Cannon together, Eggman was thrown into space by Gerald, who was not interested in ruling the Earth, but in destroying it. Using a ring portal, Tails and Knuckles rescued Eggman from the Space Colony ARK, lifting him up so he could use Sonic's super-powered quill to electrocute Gerald's backside, causing him to disintegrate in the Chaos Energy field. Realizing the cannon couldn't be stopped, the trio joined forces to alter its trajectory while the two Hedgehogs worked together to prevent the laser from firing, ultimately saving the planet. Though they successfully deflected the laser, part of the Moon was still cut off causing Eggman to blame Tails and Knuckles.
When Sonic lost his transformation and began falling toward Earth, Tails received the last ring from Knuckles. Nearing Sonic as he pierced through Earth's atmosphere, he passed out while preparing to deploy the ring. However, Knuckles reached them in time and threw Tails' ring, safely catching his friends and landing in a cornfield. Upon awakening, Team Sonic noticed the explosion of the ARK, realizing that both Shadow and Eggman made the choice to sacrifice themselves to save the planet. Regretful over the earlier conflict, Sonic apologized to his friends for his vengeful behavior. In response, Knuckles accepted the name "Team Sonic," which touched Sonic, who hugged him and Tails and insisted they call themselves "team."[7]
Sometime later, Tails and his friends were camping again, making s'mores, which Sonic and Knuckles eagerly ate. After Tom had recovered, the team, along with Maddie and Ozzie, shared a hug with Tom, happy to be reunited. However, Sonic was eager for a fair race with Tails and Knuckles. The team started their race through the forest, racing until sunset. But Sonic strayed from the path, losing sight of his friends.[7]
Personality[]
"You were weird, too. But you were a legend. That made me think... maybe being weird isn't so bad. You inspired me to leave my village, to find you and help you in your mission."
Tails is a determined and plucky young fox, being willing to face the unknown on multiple worlds across the galaxy and deadly villains, all in an attempt to find Sonic, no matter what. He is also quite logical and intelligent, as seen by how he steadily narrowed his search for Sonic by thinking things through and using what he learned along the way. He is similarly greatly resourceful, as exemplified by the various gadgets he has invented and his ability to analyze the options in critical situations. However, despite his intelligence, Tails can be slightly clueless, such as not realizing why his nickname is obvious. He is also slightly lacking in social etiquette, as evidenced by how he spied on Sonic for months.
Tails was once insecure about his extra tail, but after seeing how Sonic uses his weird quality, his super speed, to be a hero, Tails came to believe that his own weird quality is not so bad. Due to his insecurity over being shunned for his genetic quirk, Tails possessed as well low self-esteem and some shyness, claiming that he is not as brave as Sonic or a "field guy" in spite of his numerous feats. Since meeting Sonic, however, Tails has begun to come out of his shell and believe more in himself thanks to the encouragement and assurance from Sonic.
Due to the ostracization by others for his extra tail, Tails grew up lonely, yearning for acceptance and belonging. Tails achieves this first by becoming friends with Sonic, then Knuckles, then becoming a part of the Wachowskifamily. Finally having friends and a family, Tails treasures the love and relationships he has. Tails shows great concern for his friends, especially when he tried to console Sonic, who was consumed by vengeance after Tom was injured by Shadow. He tried to make Sonic realize that using the Master Emerald wasn't what Tom would have wanted for him.

Flight: Tails can use his twin tails like helicopter rotors to hover and fly at great speeds, shown fast enough to fly across the forest in a matter of seconds while leaving behind an orange trail.
Superhuman Speed: Tails, whilst flying, can travel at tremendous speeds and being able to keep up with both Sonic and Knuckles.
Strength: As Tails flies, he has enough power to carry Sonic the Hedgehog by hand. He could also carry Knuckles, but was under a lot of strain because of how much muscle mass he has. He has grown stronger later on though, as when he and Knuckles saved Doctor Eggman after Gerald drops him out of the Space Colony ARK, he was able to carry both of them.
Master Engineer: Tails is adept with creating various gadgets and tools with capabilities far beyond that of most of the technology on Earth, and he has been able to make modifications to his Miles Electric that has allowed him to narrow down his search for Sonic to just a few planets in a search that was comparable to "looking for a needle in 10,000 haystacks."
Master Marksman: Tails has shown a skill with marksmanship, able to threw a electric rope at Knuckles from afar and later used a laser gun with accuracy against Eggman's Badniks.
Combatant: Tails has shown some knowledge of self-defense while fighting Robotnik's empowered Badniks alongside Sonic and Knuckles.
Expert Acrobat: Due to his capability for flight, Tails is highly skilled in aerial maneuvers, as he frequently employed them to dodge attacks from Badniks while airborne.
Expert Pilot: Despite his ability to fly on his own, Tails is shown an adept at piloting a biplane, being able to maneuver and avoid a missile assault.
Master Hacker: Tails is able to hack into any systems. Tails was able to hack the system in the G.U.N. Headquarters in order to get access to the Eclipse Cannon keycard location.

Tornado: Tails uses his piloting abilities on a biplane he spotted at Rachel's wedding. He used while battling Eggman's Giant Eggman Robot, before being destroyed.
Electric Rope: Tails deployed a scientifically enhanced rope to constrain Knuckles from wounding Sonic the Hedgehog.
Levitator: After Maddie and Rachel got their hands on Tails' backpack, Maddie used a levitating device send a Guardian Units of Nations soldier flying.
Gizmo Wing: After Maddie and Rachel got their hands on Tails' backpack, Rachel used a special boomerang that knocks out G.U.N. soldiers, saving Maddie from getting caught.
Holograms: Tails has small devices that can project believable holograms. To keep Sonic distracted, Tails used holoprojector devices, making Sonic believe he was racing against both him and Knuckles.
Titanium Handcuffs: Before confronting Shadow the Hedgehog, Tails gave Team Sonic special handcuffs that prevent anyone who is tied up from escaping or trying to destroy them.
Jetpack: During a race against Sonic and Knuckles, Tails used it to give himself some boost.
Computer: Tails was also equipped with a computer. He used his computer, to hack the systems in G.U.N. Headquarters.
Rings: Tails was also equipped with rings, which he used to travel, throughout the universe. He used his ring, while searching for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Village: Formerly, Tails lived in a village full of villagers who found Tails' twin tails rather odd.
"And then, Knuckles, Tails, and I became friends and roommates! Now, with all the hero stuff out of the way, Knuckles' only mission is to relax and enjoy Earth, which might be harder than it sounds."
In the video game series, Miles "Tails" Prower is a cowardly genius ridiculed for his twin tails. Rescued by Sonic the Hedgehog from a pair of bullies, Tails became his idol's best friend as they ventured about, growing more confident and brave as he occasionally stopped Doctor Eggman's latest plan.
The device Tails carries upon his arrival on Earth is the Miles Electric, Tails' handheld device of the same name in the video game series, as confirmed by Tyson Hesse.[8]
In the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails possessed a singular tail that bifurcated, enabling flight. However, in subsequent installments starting from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Tails consistently retained his characteristic twin tails.
