- "Well, if it isn't the Pastry King."
"The Donut Lord. You know, a real genius would remember the name of the guy who helped kick your butt off this planet. And I'll do it again if you mess with Green Hills." - ―Doctor Eggman and Tom Wachowski[src]
Sheriff Thomas Michael "Tom" Wachowski[1] is the local town sheriff of Green Hills, Montana and the husband of veterinarian Maddie Wachowski that previously longed for a more exhilarating job at the San Francisco Police Department.
Tom discovered Sonic the Hedgehog's existence following the Green Hills Energy Surge and ventured with him to San Francisco after accidentally causing him to drop his rings into a portal to the Transamerica Pyramid, encountering the evils of Ivo Robotnik. With the help of Maddie, Tom and Sonic defeated Robotnik by sending him to the Mushroom Planet. Tom and Maddie then accepted Sonic as part of the family.
Tom later went on vacation with Wade Whipple until they helped fellow police officers at the First Bank of Walla Walla arrest Lindsey's crew. To his surprise, the criminals were in control of Robotnik's Badniks, and Tom took it upon himself to destroy them until they captured the criminals, while admitting that he didn't want Sonic to investigate the case.
While Sonic wanted to be a hero, Tom gave him advice to be responsible first, later visiting Hawaii to attend the wedding of Rachel and her fiancé Randall Handel, a G.U.N. agent, but found out that the wedding was a setup by Walters. After discovering that Robotnik, now known as Doctor Eggman, had returned, Tom helped Maddie heal Sonic's friend Tails, and then returned to Green Hills to help Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles take on the Giant Eggman Robot. After the battle, Tom and Sonic became father and son.
During the celebration for Sonic's arrival on Earth, he and Sonic went to his cave, where Sonic was still mourning the death of his guardian, Longclaw, but Tom advised him that even though she was gone, her love was still in his heart. When Team Sonic recruited them to infiltrate into G.U.N. headquarters, Tom and Maddie entered with Tails' holoprojectors to try to steal the Eclipse Cannon keycard, but in Walters' appearance, Tom was mistaken by Shadow the Hedgehog, who seriously injured him. After Team Sonic saved the planet, Tom managed to get out of the hospital and recover with his family.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
- "Thomas Michael Wachowski, what did you do the entire time I was in veterinary school?"
"I worked a second job to pay the rent and-"
"A third job to pay tuition. You sacrificed for me. I'm happy to sacrifice for you." - ―Maddie Wachowski and Tom Wachowski[src]
Thomas Michael Wachowski was born and raised in Green Hills, Montana to his well-known sheriff father and breastfeeding mother[1] amongst two brothers, with whom he used to compete in races.[3] Growing up, Wachowski would eventually meet and marry Maddie Wachowski, whom he helped pay the rent for their residence and for Maddie's tuition while she'd attend a veterinary school. Tom would watch movie nights with her.[1] At some point during their marriage, Wachowski promised Maddie that one day they would travel to London, England.[3]
A long time sheriff of Green Hills, like his father, Tom felt the urge for more exciting situations to engage in or deal with, sending an application to the San Francisco Police Department and planning his departure from the Green Hills Sheriff's Department.
In 2023, while he was still at the department and on duty, Tom would help ducks safely cross the road and have an occasional drink at Woody's Tavern, where, at one instance, the village idiot Crazy Carl presented the bar patrons with a picture of the creature he saw last night; the "Blue Devil."[1] The patrons started laughing when he told his story once again, prompting Tom to escort him out. He advised Carl to start taking prescription medications as he lead him to the police car. As Carl entered the vehicle, he told Tom how he reminded him of Tom's father, going on to say that he wouldn't know where the town would be without a Wachowski as a sheriff.[4]
At the Speed Trap[]

Tom finds a blue quill
- "Babe, are you sure you're okay with this? I mean, there's been a Wachowski protecting this town for more than 50 years. This is a big change."
"I'm positive. It's time for this guy to get out there and prove himself. I love Green Hills, but, you know, I want to help people in real trouble. I want someone to turn to me in a life-and-death situation and I'll be there for ‘em." - ―Maddie Wachowski and Tom Wachowski[src]
During his shift, assigned to patrolling a speed trap, Wachowski was bored as there were no cars passing by. When Wade Whipple checked in on him through a walkie-talkie, Wachowski convinced him that he was on a yacht in Barbados alongside Rihanna. Whipple believed him and requested some pictures, but Wachowski clarified his whereabouts. Whipple assumed he traveled quickly between the two places, and was amazed. Wachowski ended the conversation by registering a turtle's speed, sarcastically joking about said speed. He took the joke back and looked away, looking back at the radar gun that now read 296 miles per hour. Confused, he thought the radar gun was broken whilst it registered a speed of 300 miles per hour. He exited his car to go and check what was out there, collecting a blue quill before driving off towards inner Green Hills to retrieve a bagel from a duck.

Tom reads his acceptation letter with Maddie
That evening, Tom was informed that the San Francisco Police Department had selected Tom to join them and are expecting a background check, with his wife Maddie Wachowski having prepared a cake in celebration and searched for residences in San Francisco. Wachowski later prepared his departing speech to a donut he titled Sergeant Sprinkles.[1]
Green Hills Energy Surge[]

Tom inspects the blue quill once more
- "Hi, Tom. Wade here. What is going on?"
"Well, gosh, I think the power's out." - ―Wade Whipple and Tom Wachowski[src]
After a power outage, Tom's colleague Whipple called him in panic over the multitude of complaints. Tom told him to relax and call Gil for locating the downed line and then Zim for getting his generator to the super Q. However, Wade immediately forgot the instructions given. Tom hung up suspiciously observed the electric blue quill he had found earlier glowing inside of his dark house.[1]
Meeting Sonic[]

Tom wanting to tranquilize raccoons
- "SFPD, pending background check! Paws in the air!"
"…Uh... meow?" - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
When called by Maddie, Tom was informed that she was having fun with Rachel and Jojo in San Francisco. He told Maddie that an energy surge had occurred. Hearing rattles emitting from his shed, Tom equipped his wife's tranquillizer gun in an attempt to rid his home of raccoons.

Upon entering the aforementioned shed, he encountered a blue hedgehog named Sonic, who tried to make the current situation less awkward by imitating a cat. Nonetheless, the two screamed in fright until Tom shot Sonic. Sonic read Tom's shirt, which stated "San Francisco," and dropped a transdimensional ring portal, leading to the Transamerica Pyramid. As the portal closed after Sonic's bag of rings fell through, Tom remained heavily startled.[1]
Hunted by the Government[]

Tom staring at an unconscious Sonic
- "They're coming for me!"
"Who's coming for you? What does that got to do with me?"
"I don't have time to explain, but you have to help me!"
"No, I don't! Why?"
"Well, my legs, which normally would be classified as lethal weapons, feel like spaghetti. I need your help. Please. It's life or death." - ―Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom Wachowski[src]
Later, Tom inspected the strange being now locked in a cage, matching it with the quill he found and realizing that he was the fabled "Blue Devil." As Sonic awakened, Tom nervously asked his purpose in his garage, receiving the response that it was the only place Sonic could think of, with the name "Donut Lord" mentioned, which Tom found weird. Just as Sonic started to remember recent events, a truck arrived in front of the Wachowski Residence. A seemingly paranoid Sonic told Tom the government was after him and begged for assistance, which he got.

Robotnik limits Tom's time to tell the truth
Hiding Sonic in the attic, he met a man named Ivo Robotnik, who claimed to be from the power company investigating the recent blackout, wanting to take 'readings' in Tom's household. Tom, welcoming him in, stopped him, following Sonic's claim of him and his team being bad guys. After Robotnik revealed his real reason for being there, he still demanded entrance, with him and Tom both hearing a thump coming from the kitchen. With Tom following Robotnik who barged in, they looked upon a raccoon eating Tom's cake. Robotnik, however, spotted a quill and demanded Tom's confession of Sonic's whereabouts to be told in a matter of five seconds. Sonic revealed himself, causing Robotnik to be utterly shocked and to be punched by Tom.
Following that attack, a Badnik attempted to shoot Tom and Sonic, mostly destroying the house. Despite ordering Sonic to stay behind him, the hedgehog rode atop the robot. Tom then struck the robot down before fleeing outside the residence, heading out to the highway.[1]
Road Trip to San Francisco[]

- "Yes. Road trip! Whoop, whoop!"
"What am I doing?" - ―Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom Wachowski[src]
Still on the run from the government, Tom questioned Sonic's identity. Sonic explained that he was a Hedgehog and that he was in big trouble, but Tom argued he was in more trouble. Sonic pointed out how he lost his transportable rings, now located atop the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, the place Sonic wanted Tom to drive him. Tom stopped the car, however, and opened the door, wanting Sonic to go out as he believed he was in a dream. Telling Sonic San Francisco was located in the west, Sonic returned from the Pacific Ocean, demanding extra guidance and help. Tom gave in and allowed him to take a ride.
Tom is offered a mouse pad by Sonic
Receiving more information from Sonic while he drove, Sonic spotted a sign that read "World's Largest Rubberband Ball," wanting to see the attraction. Tom neglected the opportunity to go there as the government was after them, but Sonic went anyway, having bought a mouse pad for Tom.[1]
Brawl at Piston Pit[]

Tom talks to Robotnik
- "Nice going!"
"Thanks! It's awesome, right? All right, who's next? Who wants some? Who do I get to beat up? Hey! Has anybody seen my waitress? Still waiting on those buffalo wings." - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
Stopping by a nearby gas station, Tom told Sonic to remain seated in the car as he called Wade Whipple via payphone. Calling the Green Hills Sheriff's Department, Wade told him Robotnik and his crew had arrived at the police office. Robotnik took over the phone and threatened him, telling him he would do to him the same thing Robotnik had done to a school bully. Tom hung up in the middle of Robotnik's monologue, bringing snacks to a missing Sonic. He saw a rogue bar named the Piston Pit across the street, sighed, and marched inside.

Tom sees how Sonic quickly throws darts
Once inside, Tom demanded Sonic to leave, but a waitress asked for their orders. Ordering, Sonic messed around, spinning on a barstool. Tom sarcastically pondered if he was going to check that off his bucket list, to which Sonic questioned what that was. After an explanation, Sonic immediately took a piece of paper to write down the things he longed to do. Sonic halted, however, realizing he would be unable to do these things as he had to leave for the Mushroom Planet. Tom, in pity, suggested he could do whatever he wanted in this active bar, with Tom joining in the following activities, partly unwillingly.

Tom and Sonic must battle bar patrons
Back at their seats, three thugs walked up to Tom and Sonic, stating that they didn't like 'hipsters' in their bar. Sonic saw this as an opportunity to use his skills that were taught by films, starting a bar fight. Sonic eventually used his speed to save Tom from attacking bar patrons, setting him by the counter. After the bar patrons were all handled by Sonic and his quickness, Tom and Sonic stormed out of the building, racing in the car to a motel.

Tom and Sonic at an inn
At the inn, Tom healed his wounds using ice, as well as Sonic. With Sonic asking what happens now, Tom suggested passing out watching television, despite Sonic's eagerness to stay up for excitement. After Sonic deployed his excitement, doing all sorts of activities throughout the inn, Tom turned off the lights as Sonic fell asleep. Tom also noticed a news report, stating how he, a proclaimed domestic terrorist, was still on the loose.[1]
Highway Ambush[]
- "It's a perfect town, and the people need you."
"Please, I clean out their gutters, I jump-start their cars in the winter. They could call anybody to do that."
"Sure, they can call anybody, but they don't. They call you." - ―Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom Wachowski[src]
On the road again, Tom was questioned by Sonic about his bucket list. Tom replied that he longed for an exhilarating police job in San Francisco. Tom then stared at Sonic's face of utter disbelief and shock, bewildered on why Tom would leave the town of Green Hills. This happened while Robotnik, having tracked Wachowski down, sent a Badnik to chase him, a Badnik that fired a harpoon through Tom's car. As Tom hit the rail on the highway, sending Sonic onto the hood of the car, Tom took notice of Sonic's strange chaos energy glow. Getting an idea, Tom hit the brakes, sending Sonic flying onto the road, where he spin-dashed into the Badnik. Sonic's praise of victory lasted shortly, as the Badnik deployed a smaller one, prompting Tom to call Sonic back to the vehicle. Sonic also destroyed the current robot, but another one survived.

Tom fights the Egg-Unicycle
Tom, holding a pipe, knocked out this Badnik as Sonic drove the car. Unfortunately, a small helicopter variant shredded off the roof of the car. Sonic got a hold of the drone, but it was revealed to be a sticky bomb. Tom pulled over, helping Sonic with the removal of the bomb. Eventually getting it off, Sonic was blown away by the blast nonetheless. Trying to wake him up proved futile, so Tom drove his car to Rachel's Home.[1]
Arrival in San Francisco[]

- "Can I get a glass of water?"
- ―Tom Wachowski to Maddie Wachowski[src]
Tom arrived at Rachel's Home and met Rachel, who tried to barricade the front door. Maddie helped Tom enter the house, and he was greeted by Ozzie and Jojo. As Ozzie started to take a piece of cloth off something Tom was carrying, it was revealed he had an unconscious alien in his hands, surprising everyone. Tom asked Maddie to help him recover Sonic, and she did so with smelling salts, causing Sonic to rapidly jump throughout the kitchen. When Sonic came to a halt, Maddie guided Tom inside the living room so he could explain what was happening. Doing so, Tom convinced Maddie to help Sonic retrieve his rings and borrow Rachel's car.

Upon arrival at the Transamerica Pyramid, Tom and Maddie managed to enter the building with Sonic in a duffel bag. Releasing Sonic from the bag, Sonic was reunited with his rings and said farewell to the Wachowskis.[1]
Encounter with Robotnik[]

- "Welcome to San Francisco, Mr. Wachowski. Are you enjoying the clam chowder?"
"It's the government whack job who keeps trying to kill us. Unsuccessfully!" - ―Ivo Robotnik and Tom Wachowski[src]
When Sonic attempted to launch a ring portal, Robotnik appeared at the scene, preventing it along with his Flying Eggs. Tom mocked Robotnik's suit and threatened him for making fun of Maddie, remembering the hit he gave him last time, something Sonic remembered with emotion. As the drones were set to attack, Sonic quickly transpired an idea to push off Tom and Maddie from the Transamerica Pyramid. Sonic was blown away by the doctor's blasts, but awakened to save Tom and Maddie by sending them to Zimmer's barn, where Zimmer notified Tom of the cow Bessie's labor.[1]
Robotnik's Defeat[]

- "That little alien knew more about being a human than you ever will. His name was Sonic, this was his home, and he was my friend."
- ―Tom Wachowski to Ivo Robotnik[src]
Tom returned with Maddie and Zimmer to see Sonic lying unconscious in front of Robotnik in Green Hills. He used a ring from Sonic's bag to pick a fight with Robotnik but lost quickly. Wanting to kill Tom, Wade halted Robotnik with a gunshot. As Tom looked at a tired Sonic, Robotnik ranted that Sonic was nothing more than a "silly alien" and that he did not belong. Tom disagreed, entitling Sonic as his friend. Sonic awakened afterward with an electrical surge, battling Robotnik. His ship was now broken down, Tom was ordered to deploy a ring to the Mushroom Planet. Sonic launched him through it, thus saving Green Hills. Tom informed Maddie of his decision to decline joining the San Francisco Police Department, his mind changed by Sonic.[1]
Sonic Stays[]

- "Hey, buddy, where you going?"
"You said I have to go back to my cave."
"We did." - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
While renovating the house, Tom and Maddie met Commander Walters, who granted them an Olive Garden gift card. Walters also requested to have a conversation with Sonic, but the Wachowskis assured him that Sonic was no longer on Earth. Closing the door on him, Sonic was told to go to his cave but was instead redirected to his new room in the attic, hence his gratitude toward Tom and Maddie.[1]
On Vacation[]
Going Ice-Fishing[]

Tom answers an A.P.B. as Sonic heads out to the First Bank of Walla Walla
- "Unit 5-0 of the Green Hills Sheriff's Department in Montana are en route to provide tactical support, over!"
- ―Tom Wachowski[src]
Tom and Wade Whipple took a trip to the edge of Green Hills for ice-fishing for their vacation. They were, however, interrupted by a distress call, ordering available units to apprehend an armed robbery at the First Bank of Walla Walla. Having answered the call, the person reporting the crime was shocked to learn that units from the Green Hills Sheriff's Department were en route to the mentioned location.[5]
Robbery of the First Bank of Walla Walla[]

Tom defeats two Flying Eggs
- "Well, what do you think, Andy and Barney? Think you can take care to whatever those things are?"
"Actually... we do have some experience..." - ―Officer and Tom Wachowski[src]
Upon arrival, Tom asked how he could be of assistance to an officer as Flying Eggs floated towards the First Bank of Walla Walla. Witnessing one drone lift a bank vault, spinning it around, Tom had everyone run for cover. Angered, he equipped his fishing rod to clash with two Badniks and marched upon the entrance. Demanding the robbers' surrender, they had already given in due to Sonic the Hedgehog's heroic actions, who, unbeknownst to Tom, had defeated Lindsey and her crew of criminals.

Tom meets surrendering robbers
With the robbers now arrested, people assumed Tom was the hero, who hoped for a lesser amount of Badnik incidents and Sonic not knowing of these happenings, fearing the mess he would create attempting to defeat them. Tom was granted donuts that were snatched by Sonic before he ran back home.[5]
Gone Fishing[]

Tom talks to Sonic in the lake
- "You're supposed to be my friend. Stop trying to be my dad. I can take care of myself."
"Sonic, taking care of yourself, is not what being a hero is all about. It's about taking responsibility for other people. And now, whether you wanna hear this or not, you are still just a kid. You got some more growing up to do before you're ready to be a hero. Trust me, there will come a time when your powers will be needed. But you don't choose that moment. That moment chooses you." - ―Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom Wachowski[src]
Because of the many times Sonic had been sneaking out posing as a superhero, Tom invited him to go fishing, where he cited a lesson from his father of having to adapt responsibility and assured him a moment would come when his powers would come to great use. After creating a high-five, Sonic sped the boat back to shore.[2]
Trip to Hawaii[]
Rachel's Wedding[]

- "You gotta relax buddy! You're at the Four Seasons Oahu. Have a Mai Tai! Enjoy some time with your wife! Get sunburnt somewhere embarrassing! This weekend is about you."
"Ya know what? You're right. We power bumped on it. So whatever it is you're doing, I'm sure you can undo it by the time we get home, yeah? Yeah?"
"Exactly! I mean, I am deeply offended by such accusations! So, how's Rachel's fiancé? Is he as good looking as he was in his picture?"
"...Somehow, better looking." - ―Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom Wachowski[src]
Before leaving for Hawaii, Tom gave the role of sheriff to Wade Whipple, but he had doubts, which he mentioned to Maddie, while choosing a perfect shirt.[6] Tom and Maddie had Sonic guide them to Oahu, Hawaii with a ring for attending Rachel's wedding with Randall Handel. He called Sonic to assure him not to cause any trouble and was convinced by him to relax. Meeting Randall, who reminded him to work Rachel's enmity out, Tom was greeted by Rachel, who requested him to 'bury the hatchet', although threatening him if he happened to ruin her wedding.
Tom later played volleyball with Randall and his friends and met Jojo, the ringbearer, whom he played a trick with by hiding one ring. Giving one back, Tom looked back at Randall's group, noting that Sonic too should have a squad.[2]
Eggman Returns[]
Captured by G.U.N.[]

Tom and the others are blown away by snow
At the time of Rachel and Randall's marriage, Tom was called by Sonic, who fled from an avalanche, ordering Tom to deploy a ring immediately. Doing so, Tom had thrown a wedding ring instead, now realizing he had given Jojo the wrong ring back. He interrupted the wedding, having to punch Randall in order to get the ring. Throwing it, Tom and other participants faced a storm of snow, unleashing Sonic and an unconscious new partner of Sonic's; Miles "Tails" Prower.

Tom and Maddie met a distressed Sonic, who told them of the return of Robotnik, otherwise known as Doctor Eggman. Sonic was then stunned and kidnapped by the Guardian Units of Nations, an anti-alien organization led by the man who offered Tom and Maddie an Olive Garden gift card; Walters. For trying to rescue Sonic and Tails, Tom was also arrested and temporarily brought to a nearby hotel. Maddie, however, saved him and the others.

Outside once again, Tom and the others were met by a giant green energy beam emitting from an island nearby, signifying the evil Eggman's reappearance, alongside his strong ally Knuckles the Echidna. Wanting to organize a plan, Sonic instead rushed over there, taking responsibility for Tails, who woke up, alerting the Wachowskis of the challenge Sonic would soon face. After convincing Walters that Sonic was not a threat[2], Tom and Maddie radioed Wade, warning him not to enter Mean Bean Coffee Café, Eggman's base, while Walters requested a helicopter to take him and the Wachowskis to Green Hills.[6]
Battle Against the Giant Eggman Robot[]

- "You have to get away from me. I'm the one he wants."
"Hey. We're not going anywhere. We're family."
"And families stick together… No matter what."
"I love you guys."
We love you too, Sonic." - ―Sonic the Hedgehog, Maddie Wachowski and Tom Wachowski[src]
Tom and Maddie returned to Green Hills with a G.U.N. helicopter along with Walters, who was told by an agent that they had spotted Doctor Eggman, and agent Stone and a possible local PD were taken hostage in the Mean Bean Coffee Café. The agent remarked that if Walters truly was an officer, the town was in trouble, with Tom and Maddie agreeing that the hostage being Wade Whipple was most likely. Tom and the others then met Eggman, now powered by the Master Emerald, whom he threatened. Eggman nevertheless unleashed his power, taking scraps of metal throughout the town to form the Giant Eggman Robot.

Tom and Maddie stare upon Super Sonic saving them
Upon seeing Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles fly the Tornado biplane into battle, Tom and Maddie helped evacuate many inhabitants. An acquaintance of Tom's drove to the scene, asking Tom what was happening before needing to give up his truck to him and Maddie for them to drive towards Sonic, who was heavily injured by Eggman. They drove in time to save Sonic from the robot just as he retrieved the Master Emerald, but the car flipped from the punch Eggman made upon the ground. With the Master Emerald breaking apart and being surrounded by a ring of fire, Tom and Maddie responded to Sonic's demand to leave, for he was what Eggman wanted to kill, by saying that families stick together no matter what. As the gigantic foot descended onto the Wachowskis and Sonic, Sonic gained a powerful form from the Chaos Emeralds and lifted the foot above the Wachowskis, defeating Eggman as Tom and Maddie cheered him on.

Tom and Maddie do a power bump
Super Sonic descended before Tom and Maddie, who are halted by Knuckles assuming Sonic is not the way he used to be, until being proven wrong when he summoned chili dogs for both him and Knuckles. With Sonic settling into his original form, Tom performed a group hug with him, Maddie and Tails, entitling Sonic as their kid. Witnessing Sonic, Tails and Knuckles perform a power bump as an oath to protect the Master Emerald, Tom and Maddie did so as well.[2]
Playing Baseball[]

Tom congratulates Sonic for finding his friends
- "I am happy for you, pal. You've got your wingmen. Perfect friends to grow up with."
"I've got a lot more than that, dad." - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
Tom and the rest later had a baseball match, assisting Sonic's friends and explaining to them to have fun. Knuckles powerfully punched a baseball through the scoreboard, prompting Tom to note that that was the only ball. With no ball to continue the game, Maddie invited everyone for ice cream, and they approached Tom's car with Tails, Knuckles, and Ozzie. Tom spoke to Sonic, expressing his happiness for Sonic finding his "wingmen," as he once dreamt of Sonic having. In turn, Sonic states that he has a lot more than that, assuming Tom as his father. In a race to the truck, Tom left with the others for desserts.[2]
Out of Green Hills[]
- "Tom is out of town."
- ―Maddie Wachowski[src]
At some point, Tom gave Wade Whipple a master key to keep him from being handcuffed after several incidents.[7] In 2024, Tom was on a trip outside of Green Hills, which was recalled by Maddie Wachowski when she tried to get to work on time and called Wade for a ride.[8]
Celebrating Sonic's "Bearthday"[]

- "You think Longclaw would be proud of me?"
"I know she would, pal. 'Cause even though you lost her at such a young age, you didn't let your pain change who you are. In here."
"Yeah. In my lungs."
"On your heart." - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
Months later, Tom, Maddie, Team Sonic, and Ozzie went camping in the forest, where they planned to throw a surprise party to celebrate Sonic's anniversary on Earth, which Maddie playfully called his "bearthday." Tails and Knuckles used holograms to simulate a race with Sonic around the forest while they and the Wachowskis prepared for the party. When Sonic realized what was happening, he quickly returned, only to be surprised by the others at his party. They explained how Sonic had changed all their lives when he arrived on the planet, deeply moving him before the celebration began.

Tom advises Sonic about choices
In the evening, Sonic thanked Tom for the party before leading him to his old hideout, which they decided to explore together. Inside, Tom noticed a drawing Sonic had made on his first night on Earth, depicting himself as a child alongside his late guardian, Longclaw, on his home planet. Sonic wondered aloud if Longclaw would be proud of him, to which Tom assured him she would. He explained that, even though Longclaw was gone, the love they shared would always remain in his heart. Tom then took the opportunity to advise Sonic that life is about choices, pointing out that despite the tragedies he had faced, Sonic never changed the goodness in his heart and would always make the right decision when the time came. Sonic thanked Tom, expressing his gratitude for having him as a father figure.
Later, Tom, Maddie, and the team roasted marshmallows, enjoying some relaxing family time before noticing a G.U.N. helicopter landing in the forest. Director Rockwell stepped out and introduced herself to the Wachowskis, explaining that under Walters' orders, she was recruiting Team Sonic for a mission in Tokyo, Japan. The trio quickly accepted, asking Tom and Maddie to save the marshmallows for them. As the team boarded the helicopter, Tom and Maddie waved goodbye, reminding them to make good choices.[3]

Recruited by Team Sonic[]

- "Really? You're in? Just like that?"
"Yes, it was getting so boring without you guys here. So, boring, no, not taken."
"I mean, whatever crazy plan you're cooking up, the answer's yes" - ―Tails, Maddie Wachowski and Tom Wachowski[src]
While Team Sonic was away, Tom and Maddie took the opportunity to relax at home, learning new skills like sewing, painting, and baking muffins, with Tom creating a creepy puppet of himself. However, the team suddenly teleported back to the house using a ring portal and recruited the Wachowskis for a mission. Using the Miles Electric, Tails projected the plan: Tom and Maddie needed to infiltrate the G.U.N. Headquarters in London to connect Tails' USB, which would deactivate the force field and allow Sonic to bypass the laser-filled hallway leading to the vault. Their goal was to reach the second Eclipse Cannon keycard before Team Robotnik. During the explanation, Tom joked with the puppet before being reprimanded by Maddie and agreeing to follow the team's plan without the use of the Master Emerald for its dangerous power.[3]
Infiltration into G.U.N. Headquarters[]

- "Robotnik. Going full spandex, huh? Who's the fossil?"
"That's my grandfather, you dough-eating dimbecile." - ―Tom Wachowski and Doctor Eggman[src]
Tom, Maddie, and Team Sonic traveled to London to carry out the infiltration plan at the G.U.N. Headquarters, with the Wachowskis disguised in G.U.N. agent uniforms to blend in. Using Tails' holographic devices, Tom adopted the likeness of Randall Handel while Maddie took on the appearance of Rachel, allowing them to gain entry. However, when they requested to proceed further into the headquarters under the pretense of heading to lunch, an agent denied them access. But Maddie, acting aggressively as Rachel, threatened the agent, successfully getting her and Tom into the headquarters. In the server room, Tom flirtatiously watched Maddie take on the appearance of Rockwell, causing Maddie to punch him.

Tom makes fun of Eggman's spandex suit
Suddenly, Tom warned Maddie that the real Rockwell was approaching, so he tried to select the correct face using the device. However, the device malfunctioned, and after several attempts, Tom briefly managed to take on the appearance of Randall. Successfully, Tom and Maddie entered the server room, where they plugged in the USB. Initially, it didn't work, but Tom blew on it and reinserted it, connecting it to Tails' laptop. He then noticed a USB with a big mustache, and the team realized that Team Robotnik had also infiltrated the headquarters. However, the Wachowskis and Tails were caught by Rockwell and her platoon and were taken to the vault, where they saw Sonic, Doctor Eggman, whom Tom mocked for his spandex suit, and his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, trapped by the variable gravity system. Rockwell threatened to arrest everyone, but just then, Knuckles appeared, breaking through the headquarters window.

Tom is punched by Shadow the Hedgehog
Knuckles struck Rockwell's tablet, causing a disruption in the vault. Meanwhile, the Wachowskis and Tails were trapped on the ground as a boulder loomed, threatening to crush them. However, Sonic was able to transform into a ball and destroy the boulder, saving his family. When Rockwell left with the keycard, Tom decided to confront her, using the likeness of the late Walters and successfully acquiring the keycard. However, he was confronted by Shadow the Hedgehog, who, mistaking him for the real Walters, delivered a blow that knocked him out before realizing his mistake. Following Tom's alert, Sonic found the unconscious body of his adoptive father, desperately pleading for him to wake up before Shadow left. Maddie, Tails, and Knuckles gathered around Tom’s body. Injured, Tom was taken by paramedics to a hospital, with Maddie by his side.[3]
Recovery[]

A recovered Tom hugs Maddie and Team Sonic
- "Give me a break. Still a little slow over here."
- ―Tom Wachowski to Team Sonic[src]
After Team Sonic saved Earth from the Eclipse Cannon's shot with the help of Shadow and Eggman, Tom was discharged from the hospital, wearing a cast. He returned to Green Hills, where he, Maddie, the team, and Ozzie went camping again to celebrate his recovery. Upon leaving his tent, Tom shared an emotional hug with his family before wincing in pain as Knuckles squeezed him too tightly. They rejoiced in being together again. However, Sonic then challenged Tails and Knuckles to a fair race.[3]
Personality[]
- "That's the thing about life, Sonic. It's all about the choices we make. You're gonna make some good ones, and, knowing you, you're gonna make some bad ones. But... as long as you remember to listen to your heart, you're gonna make the right choice when it matters the most."
- ―Tom Wachowski to Sonic the Hedgehog[src]
Kind-hearted and hard-working, Tom actively pursues the chance to help other people and is dedicated to his profession as a police officer. He is very brave and is not afraid to use physical force if the need arises, although usually only when he needs to be defensive, and is protective of those he cares about. Despite his sharp tongue, an occasionally dark sense of humor and misplaced jokes though, he is very sweet and gentle and frequently goes out of his way to assist others. Tom also enjoys telling corny jokes, whether he is alone or with company. In addition, Tom shows an eccentric habit of talking to donuts; according to Sonic, Tom often talks with donuts for fun and eats them if they "get out of line."
Tom is shown to dislike boredom, which stems from a genuine wish to help people in real trouble. This eventually reached the point that Green Hills' lack of action nearly drove him out of his hometown in order to pursue a more interesting career in San Francisco. However, after realizing that he had what it took to save a life following his first adventure with Sonic, Tom changed his mind about moving and came to understand that he was needed by the small community in Green Hills. Tom is as well openly skeptic when presented with a situation that seems odd or fabricated, such as when he first met Doctor Eggman and heard his "story" about being from the power company in order to get inside his house. Not one to be easily fooled, despite Robotnik's belief to the contrary, Tom is witty and cunning, able out outwit even Robotnik and is ready with a smart-mouthed reply in the face of opposition.
Although Tom is not afraid to fight, he prefers to avoid resorting to violence unless if it is absolutely necessary, as shown when he tried to leave the Piston Pit when confronted by angry bar patrons, or when he punched Randall Handel to get back a ring needed to rescue Sonic only after Randall refused to hand it over.
Abilities[]
- Peak Human Durability: Tom was able to survive a punch from Shadow the Hedgehog, who could harm the likes of Sonic, Knuckles and Tails. Although he was hospitalized, he emerged with a mere broken arm.

- "I punched him in the face."
"Oh! He punched him right in the face! It was awesome!" - ―Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog to Maddie Wachowski[src]
- Expert Combatant: As a police officer, Tom has experience with combat. He is able to knock out Robotnik with a good right hook while he was distracted by Sonic's appearance. During the bar fight at the Piston Pit, he made good hits with thugs attacking him, although he was outmatched and would have been beaten to a pulp had Sonic not saved him with his speed. He was also able to give several G.U.N. agents good punches in an effort to save Sonic, until he was ultimately outnumbered and forced to relent.
- Tactician: While initially impulsive, he displayed some degree of strategy while being attacked by Robotnik's tank.
